Writing tips

Here are some of my tips for writing:
-Make sure your story does not go to slow, for people might get bored and stop reading.
-Have friends, family members etc. read your book and see if they like it and understand it.  Remember, you are writing your book for the audience, not for you (Thank you for teaching me that, Dad!).
-If your goal is to have a book 100 pages or higher, read 200 page or so chapter books, and try to see how the author makes it that long without making it get boring (Thank you Devin!).
-Think, what kind of books do you like, and what kinds of books do you not like?
And last but not least:
-You have a good book in your hands, don't throw it away!

The Secrets of Drak

The fourth in my Kate's Quest series is The Secrets of Drak.
In The Secrets of Drak, Jode's brother Sam has turned good, and is trying to explain what is happening to Annaliar, for he is getting bigger and stronger quickly.  Sam doesn't know how to explain it completely, so Jode and Sam travel to Drak to find out what is happening to Annaliar, and how to stop him, if they can.  It is a risk of life, and if Jode hadn't gotten her bravery, she wouldn't have had the guts to do it.

School Magic

School Magic is NOT part of my Kate's Quest series.  School Magic is something I am working on separate.

Olivia has two very best friends named Emma and Brinley.  They wake up every day at 5:30 so that they can play together on the playground before school.  Olivia is very happy with her routine, and doesn't plan on changing it anytime soon.
One morning, Olivia wakes up at 10:00, and runs to school and learns her friends woke up at 10:00 too.  This catches all three of them off guard.  At first they decide that they were just tired, but then the next day they wake up at ten, again, and to top that, they hear that their least favorite two boys, Brandon and Dilan, who always wake up late, are waking up at 4:00 in the morning.
Olivia, Emma and Brinley try to figure out what's going on by themselves.  But when weird turns worse, and the school breaks out in poisonous purple sparks every time Olivia, Emma, Brinley, Brandon or Dilan gets frustrated, these best friends must have help from Brandon and Dilan, who have a plan to save the school.

Other Authors

OK, you've read about my books, and about how I want to become an author, but I have other friends who do too.  My friend Aastha Bansal, and my friend Megan Bean both love writing too and want to become authors.
Aastha has written a very good book called Jessie the Wizard, and is writing a series called The Girls, and even though she hasn't finished The Girls, so I haven't read it, I know that book will be good.
Aastha also has a blog, aasthathewriter.blogspot.com
Megan, has written The Castle of Palia, Homeless, and several other books.  I know a lot about Megan's books, because she gets most of her ideas from games we play, and she turns our games into stories.
Megan and Aastha are both wonderful authors!
So, there's a short biography of my two author friends!

Kate's Quest passage

Here's a passage from Kate's Quest, later I'll add a video of the passage, but right now my siblings aren't ready. :) :

Kate winced at what he had said, "Um... Why haven't I met you?" she asked

Annaliar frowned, “Why do you ask? I moved here yesterday.” he replied, looking more angry.
“OK, I will hold onto that, but why are you walking around like you don’t want to be seen?” Kate pushed, she was desperate for answers.
“Because I have to move to Earth to keep my job going, and my friend Zuxwoy doesn’t want me to go.” Annaliar lied. Kate could see his face pushing for her to believe.
“If you moved here yesterday, Zuxwoy wouldn’t be such good friends with you that he wouldn’t want you to leave! Plus, you wouldn’t get a promotion in your job in one day!” Kate pointed out, no one could lie to Kate, she had a way of looking people in the eyes, or listening to how they spoke. Annaliar was lying. His eyes were really wide.
Annaliar’s eyes turned fierce, “You! You! You will never, ever see me act nice again!”  he turned to run, but Kate grabbed him.
“What do you mean I’ll never see you act nice again?  What is wrong with being nice?  And how in the world do you expect to get to Earth? How did you get here?  There aren’t many flying skateboards.” She asked, still trying to figure out who this man was.
Annaliar looked like he was going to explode with anger, “What is it with you and questions? Don’t you know I would rather not tell you about how I got a magical wrist band that allows me to fly!? I don’t want to take my time to tell some little midget how some weird dude dropped it.  And, I don’t need a little threat to try to stop me from getting revenge on that horrible Stete Krown!” he yelled with anger, looking more angrily at Kate. Then, for the first time he seemed to notice something, how she looked. It seemed to catch him off guard. He gulped with fear, and sped off toward Kate’s house.
Kate tried to think. Who was Stete? And why did he share her last name? Who dropped this wrist band that allows you to fly? Why did Annaliar all the sudden look scared of Kate? How was Kate a threat?

Jode's Quest for Bravery

I am currently working on a story called Jode's Quest for Bravery. In Jode's Quest for Bravery,  Kate is hurt from her last battle, so her best friend Jode is in the spotlight.  From the other books you learn that Jode is scared of almost everything, and she's very, very rich.  So, in the third book, Jode is very scared and has nightmares every night, and can't help but be afraid of so many things.  Jode soon discovers that her greatest fear is of being afraid, and because of this she does so many things to make her brave, but all they do is get her in trouble.  In the middle of this, she and Kate (still in the hospital) spot Annaliar and Sam (Annaliar's helper) looking for Stete on Time Town.  Jode has to go on a quest that will make her brave and distract Annaliar and Sam, knowing that every step she takes will be tracked by Annaliar and Sam.

Kate Finds Out

In my second book,  Kate Finds Out, Kate can't stop thinking about Stete, the man who sent Annaliar to Drak.  Kate thinks and wonders about him all the time, but can't figure out any answers.  Then, she starts getting messages in the weirdest places from her dad, asking for help.  And to add something on top, there is a new girl who is always trying to be nice, but always ends up with people in trouble and hurt.  When Kate finally goes to save her Dad on Earth, all her questions are answered, but a new question is formed in her head during her battles with Annaliar.

Kate's Quest

Kate is a brave and poor girl that has never left her home country, Time Town.  She knows all of the people on her country by name, and is very good friends with MOST of them, too.  She has always felt cheery and happy, seeing that she isn't scared of hardly anything.
Annaliar, on a far and punishment place called Drak, is an evil man who killed his family at the age of 6.  He has never been able to escape Drak, and wants to get horrible revenge on Stete, the person who sent Annaliar to Drak.  He has gotten to Time Town, a stopping place on the way to Earth, and is feeling good about himself.
When Kate and her friend meet Annaliar, both of these opposites' lives change.  Annaliar traps Kandace on Drak, a place where she will die,  leaving Kate to either save her sister, and by the time she gets there Annaliar will already be on Earth, getting revenge on Stete, or save Stete, and by the time she gets to Kandace, Kandace will be dead.
Hi, I'm Charly, and I am a writer.  I plan on being a published author by February 10, 2013.  So, in order to meet my goal, I work on my story, Jode's Quest for Bravery (third in a series of seven).  So I am working on my story every day, that's enough, right?  It probably could be enough, but my dad and I decided that I should make a blog, so that people knew my books were great, and so that way I would have a better chance of getting my books published.  So, look through my blog and find fun videos of passages from one of my books, paragraphs about how my writing is going, and other cool stuff.  Enjoy!
